The framework we use to build websites quickly and efficiently is known as PHP Wax. It has been a continuous project for several years now, with features and functionality being added and improved all the time.

It is the brain child of Ross Riley (One Black Bear MD) and has several collaboraters working together to get it right and ready for its 1.0 release (coming soon!). At its heart PHP Wax utilises an extendable MVC, OO based structure.

This helps to segregate the data from the logic, which in turn is seperated from the actual front end design. This method is used extensively by modern frameworks such as RoR and Django to great effect; reducing code overhead, speeding up development time and in particular improving re usability.

Currently there isn't an equilivant for PHP which is lightweight and developer friendly, so hopefuly this will help our fellow programmers. We are in the middle of a large re-write to reduce the code base dramaticly while still improving the functionality; chaining rocks!

We'll tell you more when we're done but in the mean time you can find us on github (having just ported over from subversion).
