Going into summer after finishing my second year at university, I was filled with an overwhelming sense of motivation to start working towards my long-term, post-uni future.

Driven by my need for learning, experience and the realisation of how little time I had left hiding under the comfort blanket of undergraduate education, I was on the search for an internship.

One Black Bear have really taken me under their wing and I have been incredibly lucky to be given the opportunity to intern for such a reputable agency. Before starting here, friends and family congratulated me, but this praise often came alongside a “You’ll probably get really good at making coffees”/“It’ll just be a lot of shredding paper”-esque comment. I’ve been here for just over a month now, and they couldn’t have been more wrong. I have no idea how to use the coffee machine.

From the first day, I was made to feel valued and respected by everybody at OBB, and I’ve honestly never learned so much in such a short period of time. From writing blogs to pulling data,  I’m constantly being exposed to different tasks and gaining a well-rounded view of life in a communications agency. Working amongst so many great people with skill sets in varying fields and multiple years of experience has been made even better by their willingness to selflessly share this knowledge with me on a day-to-day basis.

I still have a while left here but reflecting on my experience so far makes me feel both proud and grateful.  I’ve been pushed out of my comfort zone and allowed to expand my knowledge faster than I ever expected. To be able to do all of this with the guidance of ridiculously lovely people has been an invaluable experience that has made me look forward to everything else this industry has to offer.

I can’t thank One Black Bear enough for the kindness they have shown me – but I hope they all know how appreciated they are!
